Agreed; it's one of several Fender colors that are hard to photograph. I think that copper/gold/green aspect comes out a bit more on the Texas Tea Strats - their gold anodized pickguard (and the tinting of the maple fingerboard) seem to bring that aspect of the color out in more lighting than the Teles with the silver anodized fingerboard (and typically a rosewood fingerboard as well. This is an intense colour that looks amazing when the light h. It's a lovely color, but it's basically almost always black. you only see the fantastic brown hue under direct light.

Where I live it's all Texas tea. But the Fender color has a dark brown hue. I wouldn't describe it as black.
I haven't seen them side-by-side but Mystic Black is definitely black with some gold, silver and blue flake in it, while Texas Tea is more of a dark brown that is close to but not quite black with gold flake in it. The first Fender Ultra Tele I tried was the Ash/Maple Plasma Red burst. (Color looks like a Cherry burst to me) Then I tried my second Fender Ultra Tele yesterday; the Texas Tea color - Alder/RW The Texas Tea Alder/RW model looks amazing in person.
The silver. A Custom Shop Colour that is very special and unique. A Dark Brown with specific Gold Flakes.
This colour flips from a golden dark tea colour to almost black. Getting the gold flakes to land a sit arbitrarily in the lacquer is the most important aspect of this finish. If sprayed to heavily they will sink to the bottom.

I'd go and search for someone who paints restored cars or does custom paint in your area and try their opinion. It's obviously a multi layered color, but there are so many variables (white or gray base? the one i saw had a clear flake but i cant tell you if thats in a sub layer or on the clear/black coat etc.) Custom car/hotrod guys tend to have a lot of experience on these types of color.
