Anvil is the best color they ever offered on a Jeep. The light hits it differently depending on time of day. Sometimes it's blue, sometimes grey, sometimes a hint of green, it's just an awesome color.
Earl on the other hand is simply a very very light grey. Look at the "Smoke Show" color offered on Challenger and you'll see it. If ordering a 24, I am torn between Earl and Anvil, but could just go traditional with white or black.
I have a 23 Earl, so I know I do love that color. The Anvil looks awesome sometimes and crappy sometimes. My Earl looks great to me, but when I see it on regular Jeeps, ugh, not so much.

Pretty sure that's Sting Gray. Here's Anvil beside Earl, and a video showing the color (Bronco comes in a similar dark gray with blue undertones). The picture of the Anvil at the reveal looks amazing, but a JK in Anvil just looks dull.
The Anvil on the 392 on the reveal is fire, but I have yet to see a JK and think "man that's the one". I do get a lot of comments from the lady folk on how pretty Earl is. Makes me think it's a girl color, but I do love it.
2023 Earl 392XR VIN. Very interesting, as Sulley's pic shows, I remember Anvil looking like that - more steel color. The OP's pic doesn't match, but I agree, it looks a little dark to be Earl, but not dark enough for Anvil.
Looks awesome. Another timeless color from Jeep. Sting Gray, Gobi, and Earl are the best muted colors on a Jeep.
Just wanted to see what jeepers think about anvil colored jeep jku, is it a fairly common color or more rare? Is it sought after? What are your opinions! After holding out 4 months to order, I finally saw my first Earl colored Jeep & was disappointed. At worst, it is toothpaste green, and at best, it is baby blue. I was hoping it would be closer to Anvil.
Here's a side-by-side comparison of Earl vs. Anvil.
