Release Date On the Twenty-Seventh of 1994, this folk-rock themed classic was released. It was the second single the band released in support of their "Under the Table Dreaming" album. One of the most venerable DMB songs, the band started performing an early version of "Ants Marching" soon after they formed in 1991.
Originally, it was known as "No New Directions." The song quickly became a crowd favorite, and when the band issued their first album, the 1993 independent release Remember Two Things, they included a live version as the first track. A studio version was released. Dave Matthews Band released "Ants Marching" on September 27, 1994.
It incorporates every aspect of the band's personalities and bridges the DMB of old with the new. During its first years, Ants Marching was an instant favorite. It was usually preceeded by the 2001 Intro and was heavy on the keyboards.
