So, I wanna get the insane mode characters and I figured I'd find out what's the best character (s), weapon, and animal orb for insane mode to at least help me out. Bi-Polar bear or the pig are probably going to be your best orb buddies. Golden skull mace, assuming you've filled your strength bar, is going to be the best melee weapon. The best thing I would recommend also is to have a full DEF if possible.
Main reason being is because the enemies on INSANE mode enjoy kicking the living c$%! out of players HP. For animal orbs, I would just go with what William406 said. IMO, Hawkster generally seems better because it can pick up food and attack enemies that are downed.

He's like crowd control in an Animal Orb, which is nice if your character has bad magic splash, or if he's good for newer players. Especially on some of the choke spots for them on Insane Mode like the Troll Mum, but I don't think there's a better Animal Orb to bring to that fight, really. If you actually are new to insane mode then hawkster or piggy will probably help you more than snoot.
Probably hawkster more so than piggy. Unless you know you're playing a level with guaranteed fruits, like desert, wedding crash, or snow world; in those cases piggy would be better.
