Union Pacific is a solid economic board game with a unique theme of railway development. The game offers a good balance of strategy and player interaction, making each playthrough engaging and competitive. An additional overarching company, Union Pacific, has shares for investments but no locomotives in the game.
The board shows: Track sections between pairs of cities, each with 1-4 spaces (company colored or neutral) for locomotives. Each sections has a type (no line, black line, dashed line, or white line), that may limit company expansion. Union Pacific is not represented on the board but instead pays dividends to all share holders according to a fixed progression chart.
Money is only used to track victory conditions and cannot be spent during the game. The winner is the player with the most money at the end of the game.
