I finally took the time to update my spreadsheet with updated RGB color codes for Factorio 2.0, so feel free to use them if you wish. Not perfect, but it works when trains need to change colors. I *really* like color-coordinating my trains.
So here's a station and train color index for common resources! The wiki cheatsheet has a list of suggested train colors for their cargo. I usually just play with the sliders until I get a color I like and paint all the trains carrying that thing that color. There was a mod that colored trains automatically based on their cargo a few versions ago.
Dominant color of a particular item: For trains that supply a modular production cell. A train that carries resources for use in red circuit production is red (even though it carries green, plastic and copper). Note: this requires the "Use destination train stop color" checkbox in the locomotive GUI to be unticked, otherwise the train will follow the new built-in destination stop coloring behavior.
Item colors are based on their icons, while fluid colors are based on their appearance in pipes, storage tanks, and barrels. If you set the color of your locomotive, you can shift+right click (The same as copying an assembler recipe) and ahift+left click on the train station (Or even the locomotive at the other end of the train) and it will copy the color. Hi! I loaded my 1.1.110 factorio with 2.0 Base Game and 2.0 Space Age and noticed that some of my trains have colored wagons.
How do I color trains in a new. TL;DR item based train colors for the standardizing stickler What? most of us use trains to carry mass quantities of one item. to represent train groups we have RGB color sliders but that can feel too broad for the one and done.
if you could select an item to "theme" your train, it would feel more official than guess and check with the RGB sliders even if it is just an RGB autoset this also. Auto train painter would average the contents and thus average the color. So probably as close to brown as you could get if you had everything in it.
Otherwise, you could always paint each cargo wagon individually, and make the trains whatever color you want. Re: Setting train station color automatically. by robot256 Sat Jul 26, 2025 4:42 pm Train stations will automatically adopt the color (and train limit) of stations with the same name when you rename them.
Haven't seen anything letting you change the color in a blueprint or circuit function.
