Fox Kashima Color Difference

Recently just picked up a 34 factory and noticed one of the kashima stanchions is clearly a different shade of kashima than the other. One darker one lighter. Anyone else? I assume one stanchion just must be from a different batch than the other and happened to end up on the same fork.

Kashima coat color differences between fork/shock in Fox Racing Shox. The color of the metal before, the porosity of the metal's surface, and the depth of those pores affects the Kashima Coating's color. The color of the fork stanchions in the CTD era was sort of an alu gold, and the shocks from the same era were sometimes a grey color.

Do we possess the ability to outright and automatically know and can we feel a certain smoothness, plushness, and frictionless stroke of a suspension fork's travel? Is it discernable enough to justify paying for the difference in the more expensive Kashima Coat versus FOX's Performance series or forks with their hard anodized black surface. The gold Kashima Coat was first introduced on Fox Racing Shox forks in 2011 and has been extended to the company's top. I've dug around a bit, but I haven't had any luck finding additional components that would perfectly match the kashima coatings found on Fox's forks and droppers.

Has anyone ever seen other kashima-colored (or coated) pedals, stems, hubs, chains, chainrings, bolts, etc? Just bought a new 2011 zesty and paid extra to upgrade the fork to 2012 Fox Talas RLC 150. Was dissapointed to find the kashima colour is a dark POO brown colour rather than gold. Fox has the craziest variance in kashima color.
