I'm not a cinematographer by any means, but they use portrait mode quite a bit to blur out the background, focusing more on the characters.
Has anyone else noticed this/felt like the visuals were different from other. Aspect ratio in the flashback was 16:9 (like the original show) and New Blood's is wider. Though IMDB still says 16:9 - which is probably what they broadcast but with black bars on top/ bottom of the screen.
But you're also right, the lighting and color grading was close to the "old" style too. Dexter: Resurrection could outshine New Blood with a brighter, more vivid color palette and a fresh visual tone. Away from Miami and away from that wonky series finale, Dexter New Blood looks different in all the best ways.
