Sonic the Hedgehog is the main character of the series and debuted on the game of the same name. He's a blue hedgehog and is generally regarded as one of the most popular video game characters of all time. He's best known for his speed, which overtime seems to have increased.
For better or worse, the characters of the Sonic series are one of the defining features of the franchise. From Sonic the Hedgehog 2 onward, there has been a new character or two in nearly every video game in the series. Along with "core" characters Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose and Dr.
Eggman, there have been major additions throughout the franchise's timeline, such as the Chaotix, Shadow. A variety of Sonic characters gathered.
