Pluto Ka Colour
The colour of Pluto depends on how you observe it, but New Horizons and Hubble have revealed the dwarf planet's rich typography and hues. Thanks to the New Horizons mission, which conducted the first detailed study of Pluto in 2014, we know that Pluto's color is rather diverse, with patches of white, yellow and reddish. Long answer: Before 2015 we didn't have close-up photos of Pluto and it was hard to tell exactly what colours we might find there. We did know that Pluto is generally reddish but we were very vague on the details. When the robotic probe New Horizons flew past Pluto in 2015 it took enough photos to give us a good look the dwarf planet's colours.
Pluto, the dwarf planet, has a fascinating and varied color palette. It primarily appears to be a reddish-brown color, but this can differ depending on the region being observed. Some areas on its surface display a lighter tone with a yellowish hue due to the presence of nitrogen ice and varying levels of methane ice.

Is Pluto purple or blue? Pluto's atmosphere has a haze of blue, in this color picture taken by the New Horizons spacecraft that was released by NASA. Color images of Pluto released by NASA this year show the dwarf planet has a reddish brown surface. But an even newer photo shows that despite those colors, Pluto's atmosphere has a blue haze.
The processing creates images that would approximate the colors that the human eye would perceive, bringing them closer to "true color" than the images released near the encounter. This image was taken as New Horizons zipped toward Pluto and its moons on July 14, 2015, from a range of 22,025 miles (35,445) kilometers.
