Applying these practical ideas helped me see my relationship with Heavenly Father and the Savior as real, powerful, and precious. Heavenly Father gives us many evidences of how He preserves His relationship with us while asking us what we can do to put Him first. He is the One anointed by the Father to be the means of our Salvation from sin and death.
Keith H. Meservy, an emeritus professor of ancient scripture at BYU, points out the following: We are frequently told that Jesus Christ is the God of the Old Testament (see Bible Dictionary, "Jehovah," 710-11). Moreover, the Heavenly Father's love is unconditional and sacrificial, as demonstrated in the sending of His Son, Jesus Christ, for the redemption of humanity.
John 3:16 encapsulates this profound love: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. ~ John 16:23-2 7 In Matthew 7 Jesus makes a contrast between earthly Fathers and God, our heavenly Father.
Jesus Christ was confident that his Father would meet the need. The Word shows us many aspects of Jesus Christ's relationship with God, his heavenly Father. While on earth, Jesus Christ knew God was his Father, and he displayed the intimacy of their relationship by calling Him "Abba." Jesus Christ prayed to God and made Him known to others.
What do Mormons Believe about Heavenly Father? The belief in and love of God is the central message of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joseph Smith, the first prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ, taught: It is the first principle of the gospel to know for a certainty the character of God. Beliefs About Heavenly Father That Are Unique to the LDS Faith When Joseph Smith experienced what is known as the First Vision, he was visited and seen by both Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
This established God as a distinct and different entity than Jesus Christ. This is at odds with mainline Christianity and its version of the Trinity. Teaching about our premortal life, Heavenly Father referred to Jesus Christ as "my Beloved Son, which was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning." When the Father created the earth, He did so "by [His] Only Begotten" Son.
Who does mormons worship? Of course the Heavenly Father, but what about Jesus Christ? Do we worship God the Son just as well?
