Colors is a more cohesive experience, as generations almost feels more like a level pack than a complete video game. However, generations' gameplay is far superior. The following is a list of version differences between the various ports of Sonic Generations.
Throughout the various releases, it has been subject to alterations of the gameplay and certain mechanics. Some versions also have various new additions not present in the original release. Released in Europe November 12, 2010, the first release of the game.
Released in North America November 16. In this video I took 4 games and made a comparison. Sonic Colors (Dolphin),Sonic Forces, Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors Ultimate by Gamespot was also inc.
Unleashed, Generations, and Colors are some of my favorite games of all time, and it's time to put them up against each other, and seeing how Forces compares to them. I will specifically be comparing Unleashed on the PS3, Colors on the Wii, Generations on the PS3, and Forces on the Switch. It's a four game battle royale! For Sonic Mania on the PlayStation 4, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "Sonic colors vs Generations?".
Sonic Colours: More development time, less glitches, more polished, more boss battles, less automation, longer game, gets ported to the 360/PS3. Sonic Generations: More cutscenes, more stages, better boss battles, Super Sonic gets fixed, less automation, gets ported to the Wii. I'm playing Sonic Colors right now and I don't know exactly what it is but I felt like Sonic handled a lot better in Generations as opposed to Colors.
I don't remember having nearly as much of an issue with modern sonic in Generations (although still he controlled a little weird there too but I come to expect at least a little jank with any 3D sonic game lol. Feels like it kinda has to). Well.
While Modern Sonic's gameplay in the console/PC version is a mix of 3D and 2.5D platforming (similar to Sonic Unleashed and the Wii version of Sonic Colors), his gameplay is solely in 2.5D (similar to Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure and the Nintendo DS version of Sonic Colors). So, are Colors and Generations the only 3D Sonic games a lot of people can agree they're good? I have noticed a hatred of the Adventure games and the Modern games except for Colors and Generations. And this made me realize something, in Colors and Generations, you only play as Sonic.
Re: Which is best Sonic Generations or Sonic Colors Generations makes better use of their areas in 3D by adding more space and platforms. Modern controls Sonic, while not perfect, are not as ethereal as colors, as evidenced by the lack of a double jump. Classic Sonic 2D design keeps the colors play a little better and more suitable for that.
