Since it premiered in October, the movie has surpassed 2001's Spirited Away as Japan's highest. However, the previous Demon Slayer movie, Mugen Train, received an R-rating in the US for violence and thematic content, despite being rated PG. Demon Slayer is officially rated R for violence and isn't recommended for audiences under 17.
But if we're being honest, such a rating is a little bit too strict. Demon Slayer does have blood, violence and demons, but it is far from the most gory and intense action series. Different age ratings between one Demon Slayer arc and the next leaves some parents wondering if the anime is safe for their pre.
