Armor Design The Mark XXXIX has a white, black and silver color scheme designed to suit space travel. This is the first and only armor to have a white color scheme. The suit is made of a special alloy that absorbs Tony's arc reactor signal.
Attached to the back are removable secondary thrusters to get through the atmosphere. This list comprises of every single suit built by Tony in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Rhodeys suits. In 2008 he recalled that editorial directions in 1981 were that going into outer space was "a big deal", and devised the first space-going Iron Man suit with this edict in mind.

The suits of Iron Man are changing continuously and it really kicked into high gear in Iron Man 2 with the introduction of Mark IV. After the Mark III suit was completely destroyed at the end of Iron Man when he defeated Iron Monger, Tony Stark created the Mark IV to replace it.
