Samantha Parkington is a very popular American Girl Doll, and it is easy to see why. She's super cute, and there are plenty of girls out there with brown hair and brown eyes who want a doll that looks like them. The Samantha Parkington doll was released in 1986, along with Kirsten Larson and Molly McIntire.
They were American Girl's first three Historical Characters. Samantha was officially archived in May 2009 after selling out Feb 3, 2009, but was rereleased in 2014 with the launch of BeForever; furthermore, a Special Edition version was released for the 35th anniversary in 2021. The BeForever.
The first (white body) Samanthas had lighter brown hair, close to Molly's color. But Samantha always had the brown decal eyes, never blue. She's wearing the original Samantha meet dress, but isn't Samantha.
There were several JLYs with light brown hair and pie bangs. Samantha Parkington has brown eyes and hair that falls to her mid-back. Her current iteration has dark brown hair in large, soft curls, but her original and 35th anniversary versions have significantly lighter brown hair.
In the late 90s and early 2000s, her hair became a medium brown, and had a wave. White body Samantha dolls look the most different, to me: their hair color is much lighter brown and their eyes can range in color from light brown to an amber shade to a sort of slate grey-brown, depending on the year and even the month they were produced. Samantha was released on September 14, 1986 as part of the original 3 dolls- the American Girls Collection- alongside Kirsten and Molly.
She has the Classic face mold, blackish-brown hair, and decal brown eyes that were only used for her and Ivy Ling. Her meet outfit was a black, white and red checkered dress from 1986 until 2009 and a pink dress from 2014 on. Explore the world of our Historical Character, Samantha Parkington.

As always, the doll went those production changes as the year progressed, where the dolls made in the beginning of 1987 had big teeth, but also amber eyes (like an '86), later transitioning to the Merlot color that 1987 Sam is known for. 1987 dolls have a gorgeous.
This is an American Girl Pleasant Company Samantha Parkington 18" doll from 2008. She has dark brown wavy hair, brown eyes that open and close, and a light complexion. I've put perhaps a silly amount of thought into this, so I'd love some opinions on which colors would be best for replacement bows for Nellie and Samantha.
I bought Nellie secondhand and she didn't come with a bow, so I'd love to buy some ribbon and make one for her.
