Was Goku's belt supposed to be orange in the end of Z? In the limited color version, it's orange. The volume covers, anime, and full color version of the manga all have it as white. But which one is 'canon'? Is the orange belt canon since it most likely came first, or is the white belt just supposed to overwrite the orange belt in a way? At the end of Z (tournament with Uub), Toriyama considers Goku as a martial art master, hence why he stop wearing Master Roshi orange suit and went with his own color.

Kid Goku's Gi Is Only Red In The Anime One of the more subtle changes from Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z is the shift in color palette, particularly in regards to the turtle school uniform. In Dragon Ball, Goku's gi is fairly reddish. It has orange influences, but more often than not, it skews red.
In Dragon Ball Z, it's undeniably orange. Goku All of Goku's Gi Symbols Explained Goku is famous for his bright orange outfit, which is known in Japan and Martial Arts circles as a Gi. And for those eagle-eyed Dragon Ball watchers, you'll notice throughout the series he has different symbols on the front and back of these orange Dragon Ball Gi's.
IIRC Gohan's Piccolo gi became green in one colored chapter and Piccolo's belt changes color now and then even though it's usually red, so I can buy the turtle outfit being consistently enough orange. Near the end of Dragon Ball Z, Goku's granddaughter Pan is also seen wearing a Gi similar to that of the Turtle School but with no symbol, while Goku now wears a turquoise Gi. In Dragon Ball Super, Goku Black wears a Gi with a black, grey and red color scheme and white Supreme Kai boots which is listed as the Dark Gi in Xenoverse 2.
Apparently, Toriyama really wasn't fond of this change. By Z, Goku's gi is orange once more. Piccolo's belt.
Do you prefer red or blue? In the manga, it's consistently red, but the anime made it light blue (though the red belt would sometimes appear in the Toei movies). In the original Dragon Ball series, Goku was introduced wearing a simple blue gi with a white undershirt and belt. However, during his intense training with Master Roshi, Goku's gi became heavily damaged and torn, leaving him with no choice but to find a replacement.
It was at this point that Goku received the iconic orange and black gi from Master Roshi himself. The fact that it became red in the anime was always something I was a bit dissatisfied with.
As stated here. Shaolin robes are orange.
