Plot synopsis: In this animated retelling of the Book of Exodus, Egyptian Prince Moses (Val Kilmer), upon discovering his roots as a Jewish slave, embarks on a quest to free his people from bondage. "parting of the sea of reeds") [1] is an episode in The Exodus, a foundational story in the Hebrew Bible.
It tells of the escape of the Israelites, led by Moses, from the pursuing Egyptians, as recounted in the Book. A recent Parade magazine article revealed, "the illusion of the Red Sea parting was achieved by filling filming large tanks flooded with 350,000 gallons of water (with gelatin added to thicken it) and wind machines, then showing the footage in reverse." So, on screen, Moses parted the Red Sea. The Bible tells us that the Red Sea parted in two as Moses led the Israelites to safety from ancient Egypt, and now experts claim there's a scientific explanation.
RESEARCH /ADDITIONAL NOTES: The colours used in this scene came from the next scene (Exodus 14 - Parting of the Red Sea - Scene 10 - Walking through (2)), which was completed on 23/06/2011. I decided to draw some of that wind-generated foam that you see on beaches in stormy conditions, which you can see in this scene, at Moses feet. Here there appears the scene of the crossing of the Red Sea, narrated in the biblical Book of Exodus: the Egyptian army, led by the Pharaoh on a chariot, follows the Jews across the dry seabed (represented by the semi-reclined personification of the Eritrean Sea); further ahead there is Moses, extending the divine stick (lost) to close the sea behind him over his pursuers.
