He believed the Titanic had the antifouling colour which can only be described as more pink then red, of which I included a picture here below. The sinking of the Titanic was one of the most tragic and devastating maritime disasters of all time. But have you ever wondered why the bottom of the Titanic was painted red? It turns out that there is a very good reason for this.
When the Titanic was built, the ship's designers wanted it to be as fast as possible. To achieve this, they made the bottom of the ship smooth and streamlined so. What colors were on the Titanic? Obviously the main colours of the ship were white, black, red; however over a century under the water has caused deterioration of the ship.
Did Titanic have red funnels? The Titanic couldn't have red funnels because the White Star Line, which operated the Titanic, used buff-colored funnels as part of their company's branding. The distinctive buff color was chosen to set the company's ships apart from those of its competitors, who often used black or red funnels. The color scheme of the interior was a mix of rich, bold colors, including red, gold, and cream.
The grand staircase, one of the most iconic features of the Titanic, was painted a deep red color, which was complemented by gold accents and intricate carvings. The reason for this assertion was that on a color brochure of the Red Hand Compositions Co. (formerly Suter-Hartmann & Rahtjens) a color sample is shown which was assumed to be the antifouling color used on Titanic.
Figure 7 shows the Red Hand paint color brochure with the antifouling color sample outlined. The Titanic is probably the most famous ship to ever set sail. What does it look like in color? Titanic Enchantress of the Sea highly disagrees with this, and provides a dark red color (middle).
