Multivariable Calculus Course Description This course covers differential, integral and vector calculus for functions of more than one variable. These mathematical tools and methods are used extensively in the physical sciences, engineering, economics and computer graphics. The materials have been organized to support independent study.
Single variable calculus is a highly geometric subject and multivariable calculus is the same, maybe even more so. In your calculus class you studied the graphs of functions y=f (x) and learned to relate derivatives and integrals to these graphs. In this course we will also study graphs and relate them to derivatives and integrals.
This course covers vector and multi-variable calculus. It is the second semester in the freshman calculus sequence. Topics include vectors and matrices, partial derivatives, double and triple integrals, and vector calculus in 2 and 3-space.
MIT OpenCourseWare offers another version of 18.02, from the Spring 2006 term. Both versions cover the same material, although they are taught by. MIT Open Learning 600 Technology Square Cambridge, MA 02139 Massachusetts Institute of Technology openlearning@mit.edu.

Explore the derivative in higher dimensions and learn how to apply it to solve real world problems. Part 1 of 3. This section contains video lectures, available as streaming or downloadable media.
Multivariable Calculus provides a framework for answering these questions in multiple dimensions. Whether modeling the movement of air over a wing, the flow of water through a pipe, or the spread of heat in a solid, you'll learn how to use the mathematical language that describes such systems. This online course.
The rest of the course covers the traditional multivariable calculus topics including vectors and matrices, partial derivatives, double and triple integrals, and vector calculus in 2D and 3D space. These notes were created by Evan Chen, a recitation instructor in the Fall 2024 instance of *18.02 Multivariable Calculus*.
