Ki (気, "Ki", lit. "Air, Breath"), also known as chi/qi, Youki (妖気, Yōki, lit. "Bewitching energy")[1] or simply energy (エネルギー, enerugī), is the life force energy used by Dragon Ball characters.

Do different coloured ki blasts have a meaning in the dragon ball universe? Guide to what causes the Size,Color, and Shape of a Ki blast by TheGmGoken Mon Jun 24, 2013 5:39 am In Dragonball-Dragonballz-Dragonball GT we've seen many ki changes.
From a round ball to a rectangle or Cylinder (The Kamehameha). We also see many colors. From Purple to yellow.
The sizes varies from smaller than a baseball to larger than. Ki enhanced with the power of destruction. Typically purple in color, possibly because destruction itself is a malicious act, even if the God's intentions are good.
Do the different ki colours mean anything? So, while watching the series, I've noticed various characters using different coloured ki in their attacks. Gohan's is mostly yellow, Goku's a toss up between yellow and blue, and Vegeta uses yellow, blue, purple, and even green. Do these have any meaning other than pretty colours? In Dragon Ball, when a fighter changes his ki color usually means a transformation.

These colors vary on the race, technique being used, species that the character is, or how (im)pure the user's heart is. If ki is something everybody has, why does it vary in colour? Why is Goku's ki blue while Android 18's is pink? How come it changes over time like Vegeta's, going from red/purple to yellow/blue? Does it depend on the type of person and their ambitions? Does it depend on the technique they're using? May be a dumb question but it's something I've always wondered.
