Ocean Colour Scene (often abbreviated to OCS) is an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1989. [2][3] They have had five top 10 albums, including a number one in 1997. They have also achieved seventeen top 40 singles and six top 10 singles to date.
Damon Minchella (born 1 June 1969 in Ince-in-Makerfield, Lancashire) is an English bass guitarist, formerly with Ocean Colour Scene, which he left in 2003. He was replaced by Andy Bennett (musician).He was a regular member of Paul Weller's backing band until 2008, is a member of the supergroup The Players and played for The Who during their performance at the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park. Ocean Colour Scene returned to England halfway through the year, planning to record a new album quickly, but Bates rejected their new material.
Soon, the band sued to get out of its Fontana contract. By the time it was settled in early 1993, the group owed hundreds of thousands of pounds to the label and they were back on the dole. Ocean Colour Scene have notched up nine albums, three of which went Top 5 - 1996's Moseley Shoals, 1997's Marchin' Already and 1999's One From The Modern - and a run of nine successive Top 20 hit singles commencing with 1996's The Riverboat Song.
