While the vast majority of the Dragon Ball manga was drawn in black and white, some chapters were done in color. This was much more common when the series was first starting out, but color chapters grew fewer and farther between as the series progressed. Of these color chapters, the vast majority of them start out with two to four pages in a full color palette, then switch to a limited palette.
The Tankoubon release of the manga, which is the version that VIZ utilized for their localization of the manga, unfortunately converted all the full-color and limited color pages to grayscale, resulting in some less than appealing pages as a result.
